Living through a remodel can be a daunting task. Our team of dedicated professionals have worked years to create processes and systems to ensure the process is as semaless as possbile giving you an end resulkt that will create years of enjoyment while adding value to your home.

We believe the hardest part of the process is selecting the stone, as we work to make the process as smooth as possible. Below is a breakdown of our requirements to make sure that the end result surpasses your expectations.

PREPARATION

If you had your cabinets manufacturered by another party, it is important that the cabinets be plumb, level and secured to the walls and/or floor. The countertop must lie flat within 1/8″ to eliminate stress on the corners, cut-outs and seams. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that the cabinets are plumb, level and square.

All kitchen cabinets must be permanently secured to walls and/or floor. All cabinetry and end panels must be completely and permanently installed (set and level) prior to the date countertops are scheduled to be field templated. Cabinets that will rest on top of the countertop (i.e. appliance garage, etc.) must be installed after the installation of the countertop.

Adequate support: The surface type and material thickness dictate the amount of overhang permitted on a countertop. The countertop can support an overhang of without additional brackets or corbels:

6″ (Acrylic Countertop) | 6″ (2cm Stone Countertop) | 10″ (3cm Stone Countertop)

However, at least 70% of the total countertop must be supported by cabinets, an island, knee wall, etc. All overhangs in excess of those previously mentioned will require corbels or brackets. All support brackets and corbels must be installed prior to the field template. New or existing cabinets must be structurally sound to withstand the weight of the countertop.

Removal of existing countertops and appliances: If you contract a thrid party to demo the existing surface, it iis important that all existing countertops, backsplashes, sinks and cook tops be completely disconnected and removed from cabinetry prior to field template date.

Sinks, faucets and appliances: Items to be mounted on or in the countertops MUST be on the job site prior to the date of field template. Changes in specifications will not be accepted after field template is complete. All cut-out information (including items such as sinks, faucets, soap pumps, hot/cold water dispensers, cook tops) must be at the job site prior to field template date.

Appliances: All appliances (including dishwashers, stoves and refrigerators) MUST be in place at the time of field template.

Customer Authorization: The customer (or designated decision-maker over the age of 18) MUST be present at the time of measuring/templating, and will be responsible for approving all the details of the countertop. A Granite Gallery Sales Representative will provide you with a copy of the drawing including all details, such as color, edge profile, etc. The field template supercedes all previous drawings.

Incidental Damage: Final wall preparation (i.e. painting, wall papering, etc.) should not be completed prior to installation if at all possible. Care will be exercised during the countertop installation; however, scrapes, punctures or digs to wall surfaces are possible, as are scratches and scrapes to cabinetry. These items are considered incidental damage and are the customer’s responsibility to repair. In most cases, cabinets can be easily repaired with a cabinet touch-up kit.

Trip Charges: If the templater/installer arrives at the job site and ALL of the conditions outlined above are not met the field template or the installation will be rescheduled and a trip charge will be assessed for an additional visit.

Final Pricing: Your initial purchase order or signed quote is an estimate of the projected price of your countertop project. The final price will be determined after the field template has been completed.

Installation: The customer or (designated decision-maker over the age of 18) MUST be present during the entire installation process.

Seams: Placement of all seams that may be required is at the discretion of the fabricator. Stone countertops will have visible seams. Acrylic products will have inconspicuous seams.

Backsplash Installation: If the job order includes a high-backsplash, please note that it is usually a 2-part process on stone surfaces to complete installation. The high-backsplash will be measured after installation of the deck. The backsplash will actually be installed approximately 1-week later. Upper cabinets and range hood/microwave combinations must be installed prior to measuring for the high-backsplash. This process allows for the best fit. If the workscope calls for the backsplash to be tiled, then this will is scheduled to be completed by your dedicated customer service representative who will be communciating with you through out the entire process unitl completion.

Cancellation/Returns: Special Order merchandise that is custom made, i.e. uniquely altered, color-matched, shaped, sized, or otherwise uniquely designed or fitted to accommodate the requirements of a particular space or environment (including all Granite, Quartz Surfaces, Acrylic, and Laminate countertops) is non-returnable and its purchase price cannot be refunded unless the it is damaged beyond repair in delivery or by our installers.

Cleanup: Installation of a countertop is a construction process and residual dust should be expected. Our crews are trained and are sensitive to the fact that we are working in your home. We do ask our customer to drape or cover areas to contain the dust to the construction area. The job site will be left in broom-clean condition.
